Aiko Masubuchi 増渕愛子
Aiko Masubuchi is a film programmer, producer and translator based in Tokyo and New York. After working at MoMA’s Film Department and at the American Museum of Natural History, she was the Senior Film Programmer (2013-2018) at Japan Society in New York where she also organized JAPAN CUTS, the largest film festival of Japanese films in the Americas. She has guest-programmed at venues such as MoMA, Film Forum, Film at Lincoln Center, and Anthology Film Archives. She, along with Neo Sora, is the co-founder of GINZAZA, a short film “playground” in Tokyo.
She produced Happyend (dir. Neo Sora, Venice 2024), One Hundred Years and Hope (dir. Takashi Nishihara, IFFR 2023), as well as short films such as The Chicken (dir. Neo Sora, Locarno 2020), and What is it that you said? (dir. Shun Ikezoe, New York 2021). She has also produced bonus materials for film distributors like The Criterion Collection and Arbelos Film.
Aiko is an alumna of IFFR Sessions, Rotterdam Lab, VIPO Producing Lab, Sundance Producers Summit, and EAVE/Ties That Bind.
増渕愛子は東京とニューヨークを拠点に活動する映画キュレーター・プロデューサー・翻訳家。MoMA映画部、アメリカ自然史博物館での勤務を経て、2013年から2018年までニューヨークのジャパン・ソサエティーにてシニア・フィルム・プログラマーを務め、 北米最大の日本映画祭JAPAN CUTSを企画・運営。MoMA、フィルム・フォーラム、アンソロジー・フィルム・アーカイブズ、フィルム・アット・リンカーンセンターなどでもゲスト・プログラマーとして活動。空音央とともに短編映画の「遊び場」GINZAZAを共同発足。
プロデュース作には『HAPPYEND』（空音央監督、2024年ヴェネチア映画祭）や『百年と希望』（西原孝至監督、2023年ロッテルダム映画祭）、短編映画では『The Chicken』（空音央監督、2020年ロカルノ映画祭）、『あなたはそこでなんて言ったの？』（池添俊監督、2021年ニューヨーク映画祭）などがある。The Criterion Collectionなどの配給会社のボーナス映像もプロデュース。

Neo Sora 空音央
Neo Sora is a filmmaker, artist, and translator living in Tokyo and New York. As a filmmaker, Neo has directed, shot, and produced short narrative films, documentaries, music videos, fashion spots, and a concert film.
His first fiction feature film, Happyend, premiered in Competition at the 2024 Venice Film Festival (Orizzonti) and was released theatrically around the world, including Japan, France, Korea, and the United States. His short film A Very Straight Neck won the Best Auteur Short Film award at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival. Previous works include The Chicken (Locarno 2020, New York Film Festival 2020), an adaptation of a Naoya Shiga short story praised by Variety and Cahiers du Cinéma. Neo also co-directed the ethnographic documentary Ainu Neno An Ainu (2015) with the artist collective Lunch Bee House.
An alumnus of the 2022 Sundance Institute Screenwriters and Directors Lab, Neo was named one of Filmmaker Magazine's 25 New Faces of Independent Film.
空音央は東京とニューヨークを拠点に活動する映像作家・アーティスト・翻訳家。短編映画、ドキュメンタリー、ミュージックビデオ、ファッション映像、コンサート映画などの監督・撮影・プロデュース。
長編劇映画デビュー作『HAPPYEND』は2024年ヴェネツィア国際映画祭オリゾンティ部門でプレミア上映され、日本、フランス、韓国、アメリカなど世界各国で劇場公開された。短編『A Very Straight Neck』は2025年ロカルノ国際映画祭にて作家短編賞（Best Auteur Short Film）を受賞。過去作には、志賀直哉の短編を原作にした『The Chicken』（ロカルノ2020、ニューヨーク映画祭2020、『Variety』『Cahiers du Cinéma』にて高評価）。アーティスト集団Lunch Bee Houseと共同監督したドキュメンタリー『AINU NENO AN AINU』（2015）も手掛ける。
2022年サンダンス・インスティテュート脚本家・監督ラボのフェロー。『Filmmaker Magazine』誌の「インディペンデント映画の新しい25の顔」に選出。

Rhythm Section LLC is a film production and translation company based in East Tokyo.
We produce independent feature films, short films, and documentaries. Recent productions include Happyend, the debut feature by Neo Sora, which premiered in Competition at the 2024 Venice Film Festival and was released theatrically in Japan, France, Korea, and the United States.
We also provide Japanese–English film translation: script translation, subtitling, language and cultural consultation, on-set interpretation, and interpreting and fixing services for filmmakers in Tokyo and at festivals abroad.
